I just launched my latest WordPress tutorial today.

This is current for the latest release of WordPress (2.7.1) and it teaches how to build a WordPress blog on your own domain in your own hosting account. This is written both for complete newbies and for those who have tried WordPress but found it just too tricky…

This replaces my previous ‘WordPress In 1 Day’ tutorial which became out of date when WordPress made major changes to its user interface.

My new tutorial covers the same ground, plus more, but the biggest difference is the price. This new tutorial costs just $7 – a big reduction on the previous price of $15!

Why so cheap? Well, as we all know, times are getting hard and I know from my feedback that so many people have to start their online business on a shoe-string. I understand that: when I started out I was in big debt and I had to count every penny :-(

I don’t want price to be a barrier to entry into the wonderful world of WordPress blogging. This is why it’s priced as it is. So here’s my message to you:

If you are serious about getting yourself a professional WordPress blog, up and running without pain, you cannot afford to be without this tutorial.

It’s that simple. Come and get your essential WordPress Training here!

Hi Monte! Thanks for getting in touch again.

One of the reasons I didn’t rush into producing more Camtasia videos is that whenever WordPress changes the look and feel of the user interface the tutorial becomes instantly out of date. Creating the videos is very labour-intensive and I had already turned out two different versions of these in the previous six months.

When WordPress 2.7 was released I decided to re-write the written version of the tutorial only and sell it a lot cheaper. This was in recognition that new entrants to the world of blogging didn’t always want to make a major investment and also because I wanted to reach a wider audience. It’s early days yet, but I think that’s what’s happening.

I make some more videos later but these will probably be more specific and focused on topics that my feedback says people want, like how to structure a blog, how to change a blog’s theme, how to get traffic, etc.

Thanks again. Good luck to you, too!

    Sarah

    Hi Giles,

You need a WordPress account to get access to some of the WordPress download files and also to get an API key. It’s true that you may not make use of this at the early stages but as you go on you will. For example, I recommend that you install WordPress Stats which is a plugin that lets you track visitors to your blog. That requires you to supply your API key.

    Good luck with your blog!

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
in your tutorial, you say: “wordpress.org is still free but you use it to build a blog on your own domain. You need to sign
up for a WordPress account, as before, but after that you build the blog on your own hosting
account.” I did open an account on wordpress.com as per Lesson 1. Then I installed my WordPress on own domain on Hostmonster (which is basically the same than Bluehost). So now I feel that the WordPress account in Lesson 1 was totally unneeded since at no moment I was asked to refer to this account, enter a key, a password or link my WordPress account in any manner. Can you tell me if I misunderstand something.
