Hi Monte! Thanks for getting in touch again.

One of the reasons I didn't rush into producing more Camtasia videos is that whenever WordPress changes the look and feel of the user interface the tutorial becomes instantly out of date. Creating the videos is very labour-intensive and I had already turned out two different versions of these in the previous six months.

When WordPress 2.7 was released I decided to re-write the written version of the tutorial only and sell it a lot cheaper. This was in recognition that new entrants to the world of blogging didn't always want to make a major investment and also because I wanted to reach a wider audience. It's early days yet, but I think that's what's happening.

I make some more videos later but these will probably be more specific and focused on topics that my feedback says people want, like how to structure a blog, how to change a blog's theme, how to get traffic, etc.

Thanks again. Good luck to you, too!

Hi Giles,

You need a WordPress account to get access to some of the WordPress download files and also to get an API key. It's true that you may not make use of this at the early stages but as you go on you will. For example, I recommend that you install WordPress Stats which is a plugin that lets you track visitors to your blog. That requires you to supply your API key.

Good luck with your blog!
